Newborn – from ‘Shimmering Horizons’

Each weekend at present I am posting a poem from my new collection, ‘Shimmering Horizons’, which is due to be published shortly by Bennison Books.

This week it’s the first of ten poems that portray early life, from birth through to coming of age:

I’ve added this to the Page that is steadily growing with a selection from ‘Shimmering Horizons’. This forthcoming book has the theme of the journey, the quest, the odyssey.

‘Newborn’ was first published in an anthology from Bennison Books: Indra’s Net (2017).

  1. I read once of infant twins who we observed by their mother playing on the floor and on opposite sides of the living room curtains, one pushing, the other pulling, both chuckling as babies do. She recognised their play as something they did in her womb.

  2. Beautiful and I relate so well. I have five adult children and of course, many grandchildren and great grands. They know so much before they even open their eyes to their world.

  9. I remember the one from Poems for my Family. With a new grandchild due in February, I can’t wait for the last beautiful line’s fulfilment.
