Autumn possesses its own spring

Autumn possesses
its own spring

which, when sprung,
releases

from their tight
confinement

chestnuts, fungi,
djinn.

  7. Hi John,

I like your autumn poem. Short it may be, but with its novel slant, combined with the supernaturally ugly fungus pictured – a djinn, maybe? – it spurs us to closer observation and fuller appreciation of the season.

    Take care,

    Paul

    • That’s good of you Paul, thank you. The fungus is still there, in our garden, and actually looking a great deal uglier now!

  10. I love this, John; closing with that exotic ‘djinn’ is a lovely contrast with the chunky English words and adds something mystical and unexpected.
